Avian Pox

Avian Pox

Abstract

Pox virus infections of birds produce scabby, proliferative lesions on non-feathered skin and occasionally extend into the mouth, larynx, trachea and nasal chambers. Individual species of virus are named according to their principal host, e.g. fowl pox, canary pox, pigeon pox, starling pox, turkey pox.
