Goitre in Budgerigars


Abstract

Goitre is a relatively common condition of individual pet budgerigars. The clinical condition is characterised by gross enlargement of the thyroids resulting in pressure on the lower oesophagus, trachea and syrinx together with general metabolic signs of thyroxine deficiency.
