Abstract

The Animal Welfare Subcommittee of the New Zealand Veterinary Association is currently examining the animal welfare implications of the export of live animals for slaughter. While this is in particular reference to the shippiing of sheep from New Zealand to the Middle East, we are also interested in the broader philosophical aspect of such trade. The Subcommittee would welcome comment from your readers, particularly those who have had experience of either the transport of animals destined for slaughter, or their handling after arrival at their destination.
