Effect of breed of ram on the onset of the breeding season in Romney ewes
Peer reviewed

Abstract

Romney ewes joined with entire Dorset rams showed oestrus, ovulated and conceived significantly earlier than ewes with Romney rams. The time of ram joining did not affect any of these factors. The advance in the onset of the breeding season with Dorset rams is not sufficient for this effect to be used for early lamb production.
