Abstract

Protein electrophoresis is most commonly performed in our laboratory to provide further information regarding the nature  of an unexplained elevated serum globulin concentration. Patterns of alterations in the different protein fractions (α, β and γ) are rarely pathognomonic for a particular disease, but can provide useful diagnostic information when used in conjunction with other clinical and laboratory findings
