Abstract: Trichinella spiralis, the porkworm, has a worldwide but variable occurrence in humans and other mammals. It is rare in New Zealand but it has been found here in man, rats, pigs and cats. This communication brings together published and unpublished reports of natural Trichinella infections in New Zealand (Table 1). To the best of my knowledge, it is complete up till the end of 1977.
