Abstract: We wish to report a case of familial malignant histiocytosis in a Bernese Mountain Dog. A six year old male Bernese Mountain Dog was presented with rapid onset of pain in the hind quarters and paresis in one hind leg. These signs were initially attributed to hip dysplasia, which had previously been diagnosed radiographically. However, three weeks later seven intradermal lumps 5 cm in diameter appeared over the trunk and the dog became depressed, anorexic and suffered abdominal discomfort. A skin lesion was biopsied, formalin fixed and examined histologically using H&E, PAS, ZN, Gram and Gomori`s menethamine silver stains. The epidermis and superficial dermis appeared normal but…
