Abstract: Veterinary visits can quickly become unpleasant for many pets. Needles, thermometers, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, lifting, handling and restraint, and the presence of other pets can all make for a negative experience that might include signs of fear and aggression during the visit or at future visits. How the visit is managed can determine whether the outcome is positive or negative. The goal should be to make each visit positive. Alternately the use of drugs can prevent injury as well as avoid an unpleasant outcome for the pet.
