Abstract: Many human orthopedic conditions are managed with rehabilitation AND an orthotic device. Some examples include: carpal tunnel syndrome, anterior cruciate ligament injury and associated degenerative joint disease, and pez cavus (high arch). The use of mechanical appliances to assist mobility and functional independence of impaired patients is no longer the purview of human medicine alone. The modern techniques and materials used in human orthotics and prosthetics (H-OP) are increasingly making their way into veterinary medicine driven by client demand.
