Abstract: Best practice in modern veterinary medicine requires that suitable analgesia be provided to patients experiencing or likely to experience, pain. It also requires that anaesthesia be utilised for surgical procedures or where restraint is needed without handling e.g. radiography. Just because the patient is a reptile does not lessen the need for the employment of best practices.
