Abstract: On a global basis, Haemonchus contortus is the most important nematode parasite of small ruminants, both as a frequent cause of mortalities and due to the costs of control. Loss to haemonchosis is a major restriction on sheep and goat enterprises in equatorial and developing countries, and even where planned annual control programs are usual, significant mortalities remain common. A recent investigation in the Haemonchus-endemic Northern Tablelands of New South Wales showed an average mortality rate in ewes on three study properties of 10.5% in one year, despite anthelmintic interventions1...
