Abstract:

The recent re-classification of leptospirosis vaccination from non-core to core (with caveats) in the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Vaccination Guidelines Group (VGG) 2024 update has generated much discussion on the status of this disease in NZ. WSAVA VGG now define leptospirosis vaccination as 'core' where the disease is endemic, implicated serogroups are known, and relevant vaccines are available.
