Abstract: Why use a muzzle? Muzzles are used in the veterinary clinic and by behaviourists as a management tool for dogs showing aggression. Muzzles reduce the ability of the dog to bite another individual. They can be useful safety devices to help prevent injury. Muzzles can also be a helpful management tool for dogs that have a history of eating items during outings which cause obstructions or make them ill. For example the dog that eats large quantities of seaweed when at the beach.
