Abstract: Preventative health care is a large component of unusual and exotic pet medicine: Many disease processes can prevented, delayed or mitigated through education of the client on preventative health strategies for their pet, and the provision of timely medical intervention. These short notes and accompanying presentation detail conditions commonly encountered in aged rats, including pituitary neoplasia and neurological/musculoskeletal degeneration. An overview of diagnosis, treatment, and management of these conditions will also be provided.
