Abstract: Although Australian reptile virology remains in its infancy, some significant, and uniquely Australian, findings have emerged in the last few years and they will be the focus of this report. In addition to this, specific information about the diagnostic service for reptile viruses that is offered by Murdoch University is also presented. And similarly, the excellent reviews by Jacobson1 and Marschang2 provide general reviews of the reptilian viruses that have been reported throughout the world. In this review of the recent developments in Australian virology, five viruses will be discussed: Sunshine virus, ferlavirus, arenavirus (IBD), adenovirus and herpesvirus.
