You have probably all heard the schoolgirl definition "A veterinarian is an old soldier that eats vegetables." My only personal quarrel with this definition is that I like a little meat occasionally. This morning I intend to exercise an old soldier's privilege and talk to you about the role of veterinary surgeons in the dairy, meat and wool industries of New Zealand.
