Abstract: Cook and Wallace (1974) stated “the nearest approach to perfection would be constant replenishment of a plunge dip”. This has been carried out recently in the follolwing manner. The swim dip used when filled to within 30 cm of the top had a capacity of 4 000 litres. It was 12 m long, 2 m deep, and its width was 0.6 m at the top and O.15 m at the bottom. The dip was charged with a wash concentration close to the lower level expected to occur in a discontinuous plunge dipping method…
