Abstract: In the 13 months from March 1976 to April 1977, we confirmed chemically 3 episodes of barbiturate poisoning in dogs. Four animals died and a further 9 were affected. Of these 13 animals, 12 were greyhounds, the other a Springer Spaniel. In 2 episodes, 12 dogs were fed horse meat known to have come from animals destroyed by veterinarians…
