Abstract: A disease of dogs, clinically and pathologically resembling feline panleucopaenia, (FPL) and attributed to a parvovirus, has recently been reported in Australia and North America. Evidence that this disease is present in New Zealand has also been reported. This letter describes the isolation of a parvovirus from the faeces of a puppy with enteritis. In June 1979, three of a litter of five 9-week-old Afghan puppies from Taupo showed diarrhoea, vomiting and pyrexia, and subsequently became dehydrated.
