Abstract: It is now well over a year since the first cases of canine parvovirus infection were diagnosed in New Zealand. In North America, Europe and Australia the disease has been recognized since 1978. That it is truly a new disease has been established by examination of sera collected before 1978 all were negative. Since 1978, nearly 50 per cent of randomly collected samples in the U.S.A. and 40 to 60 per cent in Europe have shown significant titres. Similar results have been reported from small surveys carried out in New Zealand
