Abstract: Necrotic dermatitis is a fatal condition periodically seen in broilers or replacement pullets and variously described as gangrenous dermatitis, necrotic dermatitis or wing rot`. Affected birds die from toxaemia or bacteraemia and whilst Clostridium welchii or Staphylococcus aureus are usually recovered from the lesion sites, the pathogenesis of the condition has not been satisfactorily explained. We wish to report the presence of antibodies to reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) in a flock of 2, 700 ten-week-old white leghorn pullets
