Abstract: A recent letter by Noeline Inglis dated 10th September 1984 in the October issue of your Journal is indeed interesting. I would however like to emphasise the danger of drawing too many conclusions from serological titres without supportive evidence from cultural isolations of the organism involved. We have collected serum samples from both the Waikato and Nelson areas and have yet to find Licterohaemorrhagiae titres. Only pomona and hardjo titres have been recorded. Serum and urine samples from a Nelson property were examined in September. Only hardjo titres were recorded in 6/ 26 samples. Six urine isolations were typed as members of the hebdomadis serogroup in which hardjo is included. Other workers such as Fairley et al. have recorded pomona and hardjo titres in deer and made pomona isolations. No icterohaemorrhagiae isolations from deer have been recorded in New Zealand…
